Jarrod

,

My name is Jarrod and just like you I have my own story to tell. Life was difficult for us as everything had its limitations even to a simple meal. My father was old and couldn’t provide well to our family.  My life’s journey began when I was only 3 years old. After my mother’s demise, my dad was not able to care for us as he had financial and health problems. Our closest relatives were not willing to lend a hand either because they found my brothers and me burdensome. My father resorted to finding help from Agape Shelter, Kluang.

I was very naughty and lazy growing up, always running away from the orphanage. My   father had no choice but to send me further and that was how my brother and I ended up in Desa Amal Jireh.  I’m truly grateful to DAJ for all the help and guidance given to me. DAJ helped to shape me to be a more determined person in life. I appreciate all the never ending support and care given to us, making us feel safe and warm and having a sense of belonging. Without these motivations I wouldn’t have been able to achieve so many things in life.

My DAJ family was there for me during my most difficult and painful moment of my life. I almost gave up when my dad passed away just a month before my SPM. My DAJ family didn’t quit on me and pushed me to move forward until I graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) with CGPA of 2.945. My younger brother Kevin also followed my footsteps and graduated with a Bachelor of Finance (Hons) with CGPA of 3.34.

Life hasn’t been easy for me but I thank God for blessing me with the knowledge that I need in order to kick start my business career.  It wasn’t smooth sailing, and I lost RM 150,000 in my first business venture. I was devastated but I remembered all the motivations given to me by the Home and I stood up and tried again. The failure of the first venture thought me valuable lessons that helped me achieve more in life.  I began to think deeper and further before making any decisions and with the blessing of the Almighty God my hard work began to pay off.   From one business, it has developed to multiple businesses and is growing in leaps and bounds. Currently I own a few trading companies.  By the age of 25, I was able to own my first home and my dream car.

Ever since I left DAJ, God has watched over me and given me great blessings in my life, so it is my responsibility to contribute back to the Home annually in terms of donations and dinners. This is the humble story of my life’s journey and how Desa Amal Jireh has helped to guide me to walk on the rocky path ahead with determination and hope. Thank you so much Desa Amal Jireh.
